  • The Zonta Club of Arlington County, Virginia was the first Zonta Club to be formed in the state of Virginia.  It was chartered on May 27, 1954 with were 27 charter members. 


 

  • The early accomplishments of the club included  furnishing a room in the National Orthopedic Center, and support of Salvation Army activities in Arlington. 

    Through the years, the club has continued its volunteer and financial support of Arlington Area activities and the mission of Zonta International.
     

  •   In 1975, the club established an Oral History program for Arlington County for which it was granted official recognition by the Arlington County Bicentennial Commission. 
     

  • In that year, the club also established a scholarship in dietary technology at Northern Virginia Community College.

  • This scholarship program continues today through scholarships in nursing and dietetics at NOVA. 
     

  • Currently the club contributes support and volunteer service to the Doorways for women and families; the Arlington Free ClinicGlobal Watch Group, an organization working to revitalize hospital care in Afghanistan; and the Zonta International Service Fund which is operated by the Zonta International Foundation.
